Wejherowo lies in the valley of the Reda River, northwest of Gdańsk. From above, the old town centre sits on the flat valley floor, with a market square and a compact grid of streets. Wooded hills rise to the south, and the river and railway run through the valley alongside the town.
The town was founded in 1643 by Jakub Wejher, who also established the Wejherowo Calvary: a route of chapels spread across the hills south of the centre. On the map these hills appear as a large green area crossed by paths.
