Baima lies in Wulong district in southeastern Chongqing, in an area known for its limestone karst landscape. The town sits along the Wu River, one of the main tributaries of the Yangtze, where the valley is narrow and the mountains rise sharply on either side. With little flat land available, the town grows lengthwise rather than outward.
