Etna's lower slope
The street pattern follows the incline of Mount Etna, with lanes stepping uphill to the north and the fabric loosening where the town gives way to farmland and old lava ground.

Biancavilla Map Poster & Print
Biancavilla sits on the lower southwestern slopes of Mount Etna, between Adrano and Santa Maria di Licodia, where the volcano's flank begins to ease toward the Simeto valley. From above, the town reads as a dense block of streets pressed onto rising ground, with the land to the north climbing steadily toward the summit craters and the land to the south opening into cultivated terraces.
Its origins are unusual for Sicily. The town was founded in the late fifteenth century by Albanian refugees who crossed the Adriatic after the Ottoman advance, and that settlement grew into the present centre. On the map the old core is recognisable by its tighter, less regular blocks, while later expansion spreads outward in straighter streets that follow the gradient of the mountain.
A Biancavilla map poster captures this relationship between town and volcano without needing any shading. Roads that fan out toward neighbouring towns, the curve of routes that skirt the slope, and the scattered lanes through orchards and old lava fields all become fine black lines. The result is a print that feels rooted in a specific piece of ground rather than a generic street plan.

Dense historic centre
The older core shows as a knot of short, irregular streets, noticeably tighter than the straighter residential streets added later around its edges as the town expanded.
Roads between towns
Main roads run west toward Adrano and east toward Santa Maria di Licodia, tracing the band of settlements that rings the volcano at roughly the same altitude.

For families with roots in Biancavilla, or anyone who has spent summers on the slopes of Etna, the map is a quiet reminder of a precise place: the streets walked every day, the road down to the valley, the mountain behind every rooftop.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be changed, so the print can carry a family name or the year someone left for elsewhere. Choose from five styles, from Classic black & white to warm Sand, and download HD files for $9 or order a printed poster.
