Jämsä Map Poster & Print
Jämsä covers a wide area of Central Finland where water and forest share the map almost equally. Long lakes fill the hollows between wooded ridges, and the roads follow the shorelines and cross narrow straits. Instead of a single town plan, the result is a string of settlements, each shaped by the water beside it. The main centre sits in a river valley that drains south toward Lake Päijänne.
Jämsänkoski, now part of the municipality, grew up around rapids and a paper mill, and its industrial buildings show as broad, blocky shapes along the river.
