Jian’ou Map Poster & Print
Jian’ou is a county-level city in Nanping, in the hills of northern Fujian. It stands at the confluence where two upland rivers join to form the Jianxi, one of the main headwaters of the Min River, and on a map the town is shaped by that junction: streets fill the flatter ground between the channels, while forested slopes close in on every side.
The place has a long administrative history. As Jianzhou, it was one of the chief prefectures of the region, and the name Fujian itself was formed from the first characters of Fuzhou and Jianzhou. The old town's compact core by the water reflects that past, while newer districts extend along the valley floor.
The surrounding hills are known for bamboo, tea and other upland crops, and bridges carry roads across the rivers in several places. A Jian’ou map poster shows a city that fits itself to the landscape rather than the other way round, with the rivers drawing the strongest lines on the page.

Old prefectural seat
The historic centre beside the river, once the seat of Jianzhou prefecture, forms a denser pocket of streets than the newer riverside districts.
Valley setting
Wooded hills rise close to the town on all sides, so the built-up area stretches along the valleys and the edges of the map stay quiet.
