Keezhkulam lies in Kanyakumari district at the southern tip of Tamil Nadu, in a green, well-watered landscape near the Arabian Sea coast. The name contains the Tamil word kulam, a tank or pond, and the area around it is dotted with the reservoirs used for local irrigation for generations.
