Le Freney-d'Oisans is a small commune in the Oisans, the mountain country of the Isère department. On a map the Romanche valley narrows here. The river, the main road towards the Col du Lautaret and the houses of the village all share a thin strip of flatter ground, with steep slopes rising on both sides.
