Longshi is a town in the Chongqing municipality, in the hilly country that fills much of the eastern Sichuan Basin. This is a landscape of low, rounded hills, narrow valleys and terraced fields, and the town's form responds to it directly. Instead of a strict grid, streets follow the easiest ground, curving along valley floors and around the bases of slopes.
Like many towns across rural Chongqing, Longshi combines an older market core with newer blocks of housing and commercial buildings added in recent decades.
