The railway spine
The railway line to Warsaw cuts straight across the town. It is the axis that the station area and the rest of the street network are organised around.

Milanówek Map Poster & Print
Milanówek lies west of Warsaw, in a belt of towns that grew up along the railway to Grodzisk Mazowiecki. It began as a summer retreat and garden town for people from the capital. On a map the railway runs straight through the middle, and a network of residential streets spreads out on both sides.
The plots are large and heavily wooded, so on a map the town looks like streets laid over a forest. Many of the houses are villas and older wooden homes set back in their gardens. The street pattern mixes straight roads with curving lanes, and there is no dense centre of apartment blocks.
The town is known for Milanówek silk, which was produced here for most of the twentieth century. A Milanówek map poster shows a garden town divided by one strong railway line. Green space dominates between the streets, and the plan remains loose and domestic.

Garden-town plots
Large, deep plots with trees and gardens separate the houses. On a map, the town looks light and open, with no dense urban blocks.
Mixed street pattern
Straight roads and gently curving lanes form a relaxed network. Its layout reflects the town's origins as a place for villas and summer houses.
