Mustafakemalpaşa lies in the western part of Bursa Province, on the river of the same name, which flows north toward Lake Uluabat and the Marmara lowlands. The town sits on a fertile plain. From above, its compact centre sits along the river, with fields and orchards laid out around it in a patchwork of plots.
The river is the town's main line. The older quarter sits beside it, and bridges connect the two banks, including a historic Ottoman stone bridge.
