Takefu Map Poster & Print
Takefu is the historic centre of Echizen City in Fukui Prefecture, on the Sea of Japan side of Honshu. In 2005 it merged with the neighbouring town of Imadate to form the present city, but the older name is still widely used for the central area. From above, Takefu fills a flat basin ringed by low hills, and the Hino River flows north past the town.
In earlier centuries Takefu was the seat of the provincial government of Echizen, and its street pattern reflects a long history as a regional centre. The area is known for Echizen knives, forged here for around seven hundred years. It is also known for the Echizen washi paper made in the neighbouring Imadate district.
A Takefu map poster captures a compact, orderly town set against rice fields and green slopes. The Paper style suits its craft traditions. Classic black & white shows the railway line, the river and the dense grid of central streets with calm clarity, from the station out to the edge of the basin.

Basin and hills
Flat rice fields fill the valley floor around the town, while wooded hills rise at the edges and frame the composition on several sides.

Takefu means something particular to knife makers, paper artisans and families with roots in Echizen. A map of the town is a restrained tribute to a place of craft and a long regional history, and a thoughtful gift for anyone who grew up there.
