Timurni is a small town in Harda district in Madhya Pradesh, in the broad agricultural lowland south of the Narmada River. From above it looks modest and concentrated. There is a dense knot of lanes and low buildings, a handful of roads leading out towards neighbouring villages, and wide cultivated fields pressing in from every side.
