Pedregal lava field
Streets across the volcanic ground follow irregular, winding paths, shaped by the rough terrain left by the Xitle eruption rather than by a regular plan.

Tlalpan Map Poster & Print
Tlalpan covers a large part of southern Mexico City, and most of its territory is not urban at all. The northern section is densely built, a mix of residential colonias, hospitals and institutions along major avenues such as Insurgentes Sur and the Periférico. Further south the map changes completely as streets thin out and forests, farmland and volcanic mountains take over.
Much of northern Tlalpan is built on the Pedregal, a lava field left by an eruption of the Xitle volcano many centuries ago. The same eruption buried the ancient settlement of Cuicuilco, whose circular pyramid still stands near the Periférico. On the map, the uneven volcanic ground shows in irregular, winding streets that differ sharply from the grids further north.
The historic centre of Tlalpan, once a separate town, keeps a small plaza and colonial streets inside the larger metropolis. A Tlalpan map poster takes in this unusual mix, from the dense urban edge to the long, curving roads that climb toward Ajusco. It is a portrait of the point where the capital meets its mountains and protected land.

The old town centre around its plaza keeps a compact colonial layout, a small but distinct grid set within the wider southern metropolis.
Road to Ajusco
Winding roads lead south out of the city and climb toward the Ajusco mountains, crossing forest and open land with few buildings.

Tlalpan is where many people in Mexico City go to breathe: weekends in the old centre, walks in the forest, drives up toward Ajusco. For residents it is a neighbourhood with a rare balance of city and mountain, and the map shows exactly that.
