Brightwood Map Poster & Print
Brightwood is a residential neighbourhood in the northwest quadrant of Washington, D.C., in the upper part of the city near the Maryland line. Its main axis is Georgia Avenue, a long commercial corridor running north towards Silver Spring, and the neighbourhood's side streets spread out on either side in the orderly pattern typical of the District's outer areas.
To the west, Rock Creek Park forms a wide wooded strip that appears on a map as a large open field without streets. Brightwood also contains Fort Stevens, one of the Civil War forts that ringed the capital. In July 1864 Confederate troops attacked it, and Abraham Lincoln watched part of the fighting there, famously coming under fire.
A Brightwood map poster shows a neighbourhood defined by a strong avenue, a regular grid of rowhouse and detached-house blocks, and the soft edge of the park. It is a very specific slice of Washington, and the balance of dense streets and open green space makes for a well-composed print.

Rock Creek Park edge
The park's wooded valley lies to the west, drawn as a broad unbroken area that frames the neighbourhood and contrasts with its dense residential blocks.
Fort Stevens
The site of the 1864 battle where Lincoln came under fire sits within Brightwood, a small preserved area recalling the ring of forts that once defended the capital.

Kenapa Brightwood
Peta yang bermakna
Neighbourhood maps mean the most to the people who live there, and Brightwood has a strong identity within the city. A poster of these particular blocks feels more personal than a map of Washington as a whole, especially for a first home in the District.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be edited to show a street, a date or a family name. Choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the HD files or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
