Cambre is a municipality on the southeastern side of A Coruña. It spreads across low hills, wooded valleys and separate parishes rather than forming one compact town. On a map its settlements show up as clusters linked by winding roads, with the denser suburban districts toward the coast and more open country, divided into fields, further inland.
Water shapes the northern edge. The Mero river flows down through the municipality and opens into the Ría do Burgo, a narrow tidal inlet that reaches toward the Atlantic past A Coruña. Its shoreline curves gently and is softly indented, giving the drawing a strong natural line against the fine web of streets on either side.
