The LIRR Main Line crosses the village, and the Oyster Bay Branch splits off at Mineola. The tracks cut long diagonal lines through the regular suburban grid.

Mineola Map Poster & Print
Mineola is a village in Nassau County, on the flat ground of central Long Island. It is the county seat, and the courthouses and county offices sit in a civic district near the centre. On a map, the village is almost entirely built up. Short residential streets form a tight grid, and bands of commercial blocks run along the main roads.
The Long Island Rail Road is the strongest line through the village. Mineola station is on the Main Line and is where the Oyster Bay Branch splits off, so tracks leave in more than one direction. The village is also home to a major hospital, NYU Langone Hospital–Long Island. Because it is so compact, the edges of the village run straight into neighbouring communities with no gap in the street pattern.
A Mineola map poster shows this dense suburban fabric at a scale where the grid, the rail lines and the civic centre are all easy to read. It is a very even composition, with detail across the whole frame. It suits commuters and county workers who know these blocks, and families who have lived here for generations.

County civic centre
As the seat of Nassau County, Mineola has a cluster of courthouses and government buildings. On the map, their larger blocks and open lots break up the rows of houses.
Continuous suburb
The village runs straight into its neighbours with no open land between them. The result is a map filled with even street detail from one edge to the other.
