Purísima de Bustos is the main town of the municipality of Purísima del Rincón in Guanajuato, in Mexico's Bajío region. It sits close to San Francisco del Rincón, and the two towns have grown toward each other, with León a short distance to the east. The land around them is broad and flat, farmed and increasingly built up.
The town carries the name of Hermenegildo Bustos, the nineteenth-century painter born here, known for his intimate portraits of local people. On a map, the old centre appears as a close grid of blocks around the main square and church, with newer neighbourhoods and industrial areas extending outward along the roads to neighbouring towns.
