Russky Island Map Poster & Print
Russky Island lies in Peter the Great Gulf just south of Vladivostok, separated from the city by the Eastern Bosphorus strait. It is one of the most intricately shaped islands in the region: long bays cut deep into it from several sides, leaving peninsulas, capes and narrow necks of land that give the outline an almost branching look.
For much of the twentieth century it was a closed military area, dotted with coastal fortifications built to guard the approaches to Vladivostok. That changed with the 2012 APEC summit, when the Russky Bridge was built across the strait and the Far Eastern Federal University campus rose on Ajax Bay, on the island's northern shore.
A Russky Island map poster sets two very different kinds of drawing side by side: the dense, planned layout of the campus and the bridge approaches, and the wide, lightly marked interior of woods and old fortress roads. The bays and capes that surround both give the composition its restless, sculpted edge.

University campus
The Far Eastern Federal University occupies the shore of Ajax Bay, its buildings and paths forming the most regular, tightly planned area on the island.
Deep branching bays
Long inlets reach into the island from several directions, carving it into peninsulas and headlands so that land and water interlock across much of the map.

Kenapa Russky Island
Peta yang bermakna
Russky Island suits students and graduates of the Far Eastern Federal University, people from Vladivostok and anyone who remembers driving over the bridge for the first time. Its complicated coastline makes it one of the most graphic island maps in Russia.
Write the title as you prefer, add a graduation year or the coordinates line, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the bridge and the campus, while Noir brings out the depth of the bays.
