The valley spine
The main avenue follows the valley floor between Paris and Versailles, and most of the town's streets branch from it up the slopes on either side.

Viroflay Map Poster & Print
Viroflay lies in the Yvelines, just east of Versailles and on the road that has long linked the royal town to Paris. The commune fills a narrow valley, and its shape on the map follows that valley closely. The avenue that runs along the valley floor forms the town's spine, with side streets climbing the slopes to the north and south.
Both sides of the valley are covered by large forests, which surround the town with broad dark areas on a map. Two railway lines run along the slopes, each with its own Viroflay station, and the tram line from the south of Paris ends here in an underground station. Rail cuttings, viaducts and embankments add strong curved lines to the composition.
A Viroflay map poster shows how a whole town can fit inside a valley: the forest edges set its limits, the railways trace its sides, and the streets fill the space between. It is a tidy and clearly readable map, with Versailles just beyond one edge and the woods of the western Paris suburbs on all the others.

Two railway lines
Separate lines on the right and left banks run along the valley sides, each with a Viroflay station, while the tram from the south of Paris terminates here underground.
Forested slopes
Large forests close in on the town from north and south, framing the built-up valley with wide, quiet areas of woodland on the map.
