Basalt old town
Dark volcanic stone gives the centre its character, and its narrow medieval streets form a dense, irregular knot beside the river at the heart of the map.

Agde Map Poster & Print
Agde lies on the Hérault River a few kilometres from the Mediterranean, in the Occitanie region of southern France. Founded by Greek sailors in antiquity, it is one of the oldest towns in the country. On a map the historic centre forms a tight cluster beside the river, with newer districts extending toward the coast and the resort of Cap d'Agde.
The old town is built largely from black basalt quarried from Mont Saint-Loup, a nearby extinct volcano, which earned Agde the name black pearl of the Mediterranean. The fortified Cathedral of Saint-Étienne, built in the same dark stone, rises above the river like a castle, and the narrow streets around it keep a medieval pattern.
Just outside the old town, the Canal du Midi passes close by, with an unusual round lock that lets boats move between the canal and the Hérault. An Agde map poster shows river, canal, old streets and the long sandy shoreline. The volcanic headland and the small fortified island of Brescou sit just off the coast.

Round lock
The Canal du Midi meets the Hérault at Agde through a circular lock with three gates, a rare piece of engineering that appears as a small ring on detailed maps.
Cap d'Agde coast
To the south, the coastline curves around a volcanic headland with marinas and beaches, and the island fort of Brescou lies just offshore, giving the print a strong maritime edge.

အဓိပ္ပာယ်ရှိသော မြေပုံ
Agde brings river, canal, sea and old stone together in one frame, which makes it a layered map for anyone who has spent summers on this stretch of coast or cruised the Canal du Midi.
Add your own title and subtitle, perhaps a holiday year or a family name, and keep the coordinates line for precision. Choose from five styles, including Noir, which echoes the dark basalt, then download the files or order a printed poster.
