Ash Shāmīyah Map Poster & Print
Ash Shāmīyah lies in Al-Qadisiyah province in southern Iraq, on a branch of the Euphrates. The land is completely flat, part of the old Mesopotamian floodplain. On a map, the river and the canals drawn from it dominate the landscape, dividing the fields into long, narrow strips that run out from the waterways.
The district is known for rice growing, and Iraq's prized amber rice has long been associated with this area. The town itself is compact, built along the water with a grid of streets and markets, and roads leaving it tend to follow canals and field boundaries across the plain.
An Ash Shāmīyah map poster shows how water shapes life in southern Iraq: a town tied to the river, a network of canals reaching out from it and a patterned agricultural plain filling the rest of the frame. The composition is detailed and quietly rhythmic.

Irrigation canals
Canals branch from the river across the land, thin lines that divide the plain into long fields and give the poster its structure.
Rice country
The district is known for its rice, especially amber rice, and the patterned fields around the town reflect that long farming tradition.
