Chiefdom compound
The area around the royal compound forms a recognisable focal point on the map, a centre of tradition within an otherwise dispersed pattern of hillside homes.

Bandjoun Map Poster & Print
Bandjoun lies in the western highlands of Cameroon, close to Bafoussam, in hilly country where settlement spreads across slopes rather than gathering into one dense core. From above, roads curve with the terrain, and paths link family compounds, fields and patches of woodland in an intricate, almost hand-drawn pattern.
The town is the seat of one of the best-known Bamiléké chiefdoms. Its royal compound, with the tall thatched great hut of the chief, is a symbol of Bamiléké architecture and tradition, and the chiefdom museum keeps carved objects and regalia that draw visitors from across the country and beyond.
A Bandjoun map poster captures the character of this landscape in line alone. The roads bend around hills and valleys, small streams cut through the lowest ground, and the dispersed settlement pattern gives the print a gentle, even texture. It is a map that feels rooted in place, far from the rigid grids of planned cities.

Contour-following roads
Roads and paths curve with the slopes rather than cutting across them, so the map reads almost like a contour drawing of the highlands.
Dispersed compounds
Homesteads and fields are spread widely across the hills, giving the poster a fine, scattered texture rather than one dense urban block.

အဓိပ္ပာယ်ရှိသော မြေပုံ
For the Bandjoun diaspora in Douala, Yaoundé, Europe and North America, a map of the hills and the chiefdom is a direct link to family origins. It also suits anyone who has visited the western highlands and wants something more personal than a souvenir.
