Belaga Map Poster & Print
Belaga lies deep in the interior of Sarawak, on the upper Rajang river, one of the longest rivers in Malaysia. On a map the Rajang dominates everything: a broad, brown channel winding through dense rainforest, with the small town gathered on its bank. The built-up area is modest, a few streets and a bazaar, with longhouse communities scattered along the river beyond.
For much of its history Belaga was reached mainly by boat, with travellers passing the Pelagus rapids downstream on the way from Kapit. The river remains the main line of the landscape, and most settlement follows its banks. The population figure covers a large surrounding district, home to Kayan, Kenyah and other Orang Ulu communities.
Upstream lies the Bakun hydroelectric dam, which reshaped part of the river system. A Belaga map poster captures a place defined by water rather than roads, with the town as a small cluster of lines on a great river, and wide open space around it standing for the forest.

Riverside bazaar
The town's few streets gather in a compact cluster along the bank, the densest point on an otherwise sparse and open poster.
Longhouse settlements
Communities of Kayan, Kenyah and other Orang Ulu peoples sit along the river beyond the town, appearing as small clusters on the banks.

ဘာကြောင့် Belaga
အဓိပ္ပာယ်ရှိသော မြေပုံ
Belaga is far from anywhere, and that distance is part of its meaning. A map of it suits people from the Orang Ulu communities living in Kuching, Miri or abroad, and travellers who made the long river journey upstream.
Add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose from Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Noir renders the Rajang as a pale, curving band through darkness, a striking effect for a river town.
