The Volga frontage
The river runs broad and slow along the southern edge of the town. It is many times wider than any street and gives the whole map its defining shape.

Bor Map Poster & Print
Bor sits on the flat left bank of the Volga, directly opposite the hills of Nizhny Novgorod. On a map the contrast is striking. The wide river forms a heavy band along one edge, while the town spreads across low ground dotted with small lakes, old channels and wet meadows. Streets form a loose grid around the centre and thin out quickly into forest and marsh to the north.
The name means pine forest, and woodland still frames the town. Bor is best known for its glassworks, one of the larger glass producers in Russia, and for the cable car that crosses the Volga to Nizhny Novgorod. The cable car opened in 2012 and spans the river in one long line, turning a slow road journey into a short ride above the water.
A Bor map poster shows the town from the angle its residents see every day: a river crossing, a bank of water and meadow, and a quieter settlement set back from the city. The Volga becomes a broad graphic field, the lakes read as scattered dots of tone, and the road bridge ties the composition to the far shore.

Floodplain lakes
Small lakes and former river channels are scattered across the low left bank. This pattern is typical of the Volga floodplain and gives the map a speckled, almost botanical texture.
The cable crossing
An aerial cable car links Bor with Nizhny Novgorod across the Volga. It draws a straight line over open water, and many visitors ride it simply for the view back toward the city.
