Coastal corridor
The highway and railway running along Kerala's coast pass through the area, forming the strongest straight lines in an otherwise meandering pattern.

Cheppad Map Poster & Print
Cheppad lies in Alappuzha district in southern Kerala, in the low, water-laced country between the Arabian Sea coast and the backwaters. From above, there is no distinct town centre. Houses sit among coconut palms along a mesh of small roads, and paddy fields and canals break up the settled land.
The main north–south corridor of coastal Kerala, the national highway and the railway, passes through this area, and those long straight lines anchor the map. Around them the local lanes wander. They follow canal banks and field edges, giving the drawing a dense but soft texture typical of Kerala's continuous rural settlement.
Cheppad is known for its old Orthodox Christian church, whose interior holds historic mural paintings. A Cheppad map poster shows the landscape of central Travancore: water, fields and roads woven closely together, with homes spread across the land rather than gathered in one place.

Canals and paddies
Waterways and rice fields break up the settled land into irregular pieces, a landscape shaped more by water than by planning.
Dispersed settlement
Homes spread along countless small lanes rather than clustering around one centre, so the whole frame carries an even, fine texture.
