Darton Map Poster & Print
Darton is in the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley in South Yorkshire, to the north-west of Barnsley town centre. The River Dearne flows through the area, and the town has grown around an older village core, with residential estates added in later decades. On a map it appears as a medium-sized settlement bordered by fields and wooded areas.
The street pattern shows those stages clearly. The older centre has short, irregular streets around the church and the main road, while newer housing forms crescents and cul-de-sacs further out. The M1 motorway passes close to the town, and a railway line with its own station crosses the area, adding firm lines to the softer residential layout.
A Darton map poster suits the scale of the place. Framed tightly, it shows the details of individual streets; framed wider, it includes the river valley and the green land between Darton and neighbouring villages, a typical scene in the former coalfield country of South Yorkshire.
