Dosso Map Poster & Print
Dosso lies in south-western Niger, south-east of Niamey, and is the capital of the region of the same name. It sits on a broad, open plain typical of the Sahel. From above, the town is a spread of low-density blocks and wide streets, with sandy open spaces between districts and farmland stretching in every direction around it.
The town is an important crossroads. The main national road from Niamey to the east passes through it, and another major road leads south towards Benin. Dosso is also the seat of the Djermakoy, the traditional ruler of the Zarma people of the area, and the royal residence is one of the best-known buildings in town.
A Dosso map poster shows how simply a Sahel town is organised. The main roads meet and cross in a clear junction, the neighbourhoods spread out around it, and the land beyond is almost empty on the page. In monochrome this spare, open composition is very calm and elegant. It is a precise picture of a place built at a meeting of routes.

Djermakoy's seat
Dosso is the seat of the traditional Zarma ruler. The royal residence gives the town historical weight beyond its role as a regional capital.
Sahel plain
The flat, open land around the town is largely farmland and scrub. The poster frames Dosso with generous white space that reflects the wide landscape.
