Fichē Map Poster & Print
Fichē is the administrative centre of the North Shewa zone in Oromia, on the high Ethiopian plateau north of Addis Ababa. From above, it is a modest town. Its main road runs through the centre, a loose grid of streets branches off on either side, and farmland on the open highland spreads all around it.
The plateau in this area is cut by dramatic gorges draining toward the Blue Nile, and the landscape changes sharply over short distances. The historic monastery of Debre Libanos, one of the most important in Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity, lies at the edge of one of these gorges not far from the town.
A Fichē map poster is calm and spacious. The main road forms the spine of the design, the town's side streets fill in a compact area around it, and the empty space beyond suggests the high, open country and the gorges that lie just outside the frame. It is an understated portrait of a highland town.

Compact street grid
A small network of streets branches off the main road. It forms the clear built-up core of the town against the surrounding fields.
Highland setting
Around the town, the map opens onto the plateau. This leaves generous white space, which hints at the scale of the Ethiopian highlands.
