Hoorn Map Poster & Print
Hoorn lies on the shore of the Markermeer, the lake that was once part of the Zuiderzee. From above, the historic centre is a tight cluster of narrow streets pressed against a series of harbour basins, with canals cutting through the old town. Beyond it, newer districts spread out in orderly blocks across flat polder land.
In the seventeenth century Hoorn was one of the chambers of the Dutch East India Company, and its merchants and sailors travelled far. The navigator Willem Schouten, born here, named Cape Horn after his home town in 1616. The harbour, guarded by the round Hoofdtoren tower, still shapes the waterfront.
A Hoorn map poster captures the contrast between the dense medieval core and the straight lines of the surrounding polders. The harbour basins appear as clean cut-outs in the street pattern, the shoreline curves along the lake, and the railway and ring roads frame the town from the landward side.

Markermeer waterfront
The shoreline of the Markermeer bends along the southern side of the town, leaving a wide stretch of open water across the lower part of the map.
Polder grid
Around the historic centre, residential districts and farmland follow the straight lines typical of reclaimed Dutch land, a clear counterpoint to the irregular old streets.

အဓိပ္ပာယ်ရှိသော မြေပုံ
Hoorn suits anyone with a feel for Dutch maritime history, or people who grew up among its quays and canals. The map is legible and balanced, with water, old town and polder each easy to recognise, and it works well in a hallway or study.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a street name or a year, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the harbour, while Paper gives the old town a softer, archival look.
