Compound lanes
The town is made of family compounds linked by narrow sandy lanes, which print as a soft, irregular texture rather than a formal street grid.

Kangaba Map Poster & Print
Kangaba lies in the Koulikoro region of Mali, southwest of Bamako and close to the Niger river, in the Mandé heartland where the old Mali Empire took shape. From above the town is low and spread out, a pattern of compounds, courtyards and sandy lanes, with fields and scattered trees around it and the river's floodplain not far away.
Kangaba holds a special place in Manding tradition. Its Kamablon, a sacred round house, is re-roofed every seven years in a ceremony attended by people from across the region, and this ritual is recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage. The town is closely associated with the Keïta lineage and with oral histories reaching back to the time of Sundiata.
A Kangaba map poster is a quiet, organic composition: irregular lanes, clusters of compounds and tracks leading out to farmland and river. It has none of the regularity of a planned city, and that is its appeal, a picture of a settlement that grew around family, tradition and the land.

Niger floodplain
The Niger runs close to the town, and its seasonally flooded land and side channels form the broadest natural shape in the wider view.
Tracks into farmland
Paths and minor roads radiate from the town into cultivated fields, linking Kangaba with neighbouring villages across the Mandé countryside.
