Kushk Map Poster & Print
Kushk is a town in Herat Province in western Afghanistan, in dry, open country far from the provincial capital. Like many towns in the region, it serves as a local centre for surrounding villages, with a market and roads linking it to the wider province.
From above, the town is a cluster of walled compounds and narrow lanes, with larger streets crossing it. The compound walls give the map a distinctly cellular texture, block after block of enclosed yards. A Kushk map poster shows that texture in fine detail, with the surrounding land left almost blank.
Water shapes where people farm. Where there is irrigation, green plots follow its lines, and beyond them the terrain turns to dry ground and hills. On paper, the settlement sits as a dense, carefully drawn form surrounded by wide, quiet space.

Irrigated plots
Farmland follows the lines of available water, so the fields form strips and patches in the otherwise dry landscape.
Open surroundings
Beyond the town, the land is dry and lightly marked, so the settlement stands out clearly as a compact shape on the sheet.

အဓိပ္ပာယ်ရှိသော မြေပုံ
For Afghans who have left Herat Province, often far away, a map of home is a way to hold onto the place and pass it on to children who may not remember it. Clean lines keep the focus on the town itself.
