Mahād Map Poster & Print
Mahād lies in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, in the Konkan belt between the Sahyadri hills and the Arabian Sea. The Savitri river winds past the town, and from above it's the river and the surrounding hills that set the shape. Streets squeeze into the flatter ground along the banks, and the built area thins quickly where slopes begin.
The town has a significant place in modern Indian history. In 1927, B. R. Ambedkar led the Mahad Satyagraha at the Chavdar Tale, asserting the right of Dalits to draw water from a public tank. Raigad Fort, the seat of Shivaji's kingdom, stands in the hills not far away, and the Mumbai-Goa highway passes near the town.
In print, Mahād becomes a dense, irregular cluster of streets bounded by the river's curve and the pale emptiness of the hills. The Mahād map poster suits people who have lived here, those who come to honour the satyagraha, and anyone whose family roots run through the Konkan.

Chavdar Tale
The historic water tank at the heart of the 1927 satyagraha appears as a small, clear shape within the town's streets.
Konkan hills
Steep, forested slopes rise around the town, leaving open space on the map and pushing the densest streets toward the river.
