Maldonado Map Poster & Print
Maldonado lies on Uruguay's southeast coast, the capital of its department and the older neighbour of Punta del Este. The Spanish founded the town in 1755. Its historic centre follows a regular colonial grid of square blocks, with the cathedral facing the main square. On the map, that grid remains the clearest part of the plan.
South of the centre, the city stretches toward the coast and merges with the resort districts leading to Punta del Este. The shoreline of Maldonado Bay curves along the map's southern edge, and the island of Gorriti sits offshore. On a Maldonado map poster, the combination of grid, beaches and island gives a strong coastal composition.
Among the colonial landmarks is the Cuartel de Dragones, a stone barracks from the eighteenth century built for the Spanish garrison. Around the city, newer neighbourhoods and roads spread outward, with lagoons and open land to the east. The historic town and the resort coast together make up one continuous urban area.

Maldonado Bay
The bay's curved shoreline runs along the south of the city and continues toward Punta del Este, a long, clean coastal line.
Gorriti Island
Offshore in the bay, the island of Gorriti adds a small, separate shape in the water, a detail that anchors the composition.
