Mangattidam is in Kannur district in northern Kerala, inland from the coast where the land starts rising toward the Western Ghats. As in much of rural Kerala, settlement here is spread out rather than concentrated. Houses line the roads and sit among plantations on gently rolling hills.
The map shows a network of roads that climb and turn with the terrain, linking small junctions and clusters of shops. Between them, narrower lanes branch into the green areas. Streams and low paddy land thread through the valleys and add fine lines to the composition.
