Kosi embankments
Long flood embankments run across the region to contain the Kosi. Their straight lines contrast with the looser pattern of roads and villages around them.

Nirmāli Map Poster & Print
Nirmāli lies in Supaul district in north Bihar, close to the Kosi, one of the most restless rivers in South Asia. The Kosi carries vast amounts of sediment down from the Himalaya and has shifted its course many times over the centuries. Across this part of the plain, long embankments have been built to contain it, and they appear on maps as straight, deliberate lines.
The town itself is compact, with a centre of lanes around its main roads and a rail line connecting it to the wider region. Beyond, the land is almost completely flat, divided into small fields and dotted with villages, ponds and old river channels. The pattern is the result of a landscape formed by water.
A Nirmāli map poster brings out that relationship. The dense centre of the town sits within a larger field of lines: roads, embankments and the traces of former channels. In monochrome those layers become clear, giving the print more depth than you might expect from such a flat place.

Old river channels
The plain is marked by the curving traces of former streams and channels, a reminder of how often rivers here have changed their course.
Rail and road links
The railway and main roads connect the town to the rest of north Bihar, crossing the flat land in clean lines that give the map its structure.
