Qeładizê Map Poster & Print
Qeładizê is the main town of the Pshdar district in the Sulaymaniyah governorate of Iraqi Kurdistan, close to the border with Iran. The town lies in an open valley with mountains all around it. On a map the built-up area looks like a patch of streets laid out on level ground, and the roads leaving it follow the valleys toward nearby villages and the border crossings.
The town has an important place in modern Kurdish memory. In April 1974 it was bombed from the air while it was home to a university, and the attack is still remembered every year. Today Qeładizê is a regional centre for the farms and villages of Pshdar.
A Qeładizê map poster reduces all this to its basic lines: a street network sitting in a basin, roads threading between the ridges, and the wide, lightly marked landscape of the Zagros foothills around it.

Roads through the ridges
Routes out of town follow the natural corridors between the mountains, linking Qeładizê to the rest of Pshdar and to the border region to the east.
Compact street grid
The town's streets are tightly grouped, with residential blocks packed around a few main roads. At poster scale they come out as a fine, even texture.
