Rouen Map Poster & Print
Rouen sits on a great loop of the Seine, between Paris and the sea. The historic centre rises on the north bank, backed by chalk hills, and the river curves around to the south, where the flatter left bank holds the port and newer districts. Several bridges connect the two sides, including the tall lift bridge Pont Gustave-Flaubert downstream.
The old town is a fine-grained mesh of narrow streets lined with half-timbered houses. It is anchored by the cathedral of Notre-Dame, which Claude Monet painted many times in changing light, and by the Gros-Horloge, an astronomical clock set in an arch over the street. Joan of Arc was burned at the Place du Vieux-Marché in 1431.
A Rouen map poster is structured by the river. The Seine curves in a strong arc, docks and quays extend along it, and the medieval streets gather densely above it. With its surrounding hills and forests left open, the map offers both intricate detail and a clear overall shape.

Medieval centre
Narrow lanes around the cathedral and the Gros-Horloge form a dense, irregular mesh, the most finely detailed part of the map.
River bridges
A sequence of bridges crosses the Seine, ending downstream with the Pont Gustave-Flaubert, one of Europe's tallest vertical-lift bridges.
