Sar-e Pul Map Poster & Print
Sar-e Pul is the capital of Sar-e Pol Province in northern Afghanistan. It lies along a river that flows down from the mountains to the south toward the plains of the north. The name means roughly 'head of the bridge', a reminder that a crossing point was at the heart of the place.
From above, the town follows the river valley. Streets and compounds cluster near the water, and irrigated fields and orchards fill the flatter ground. The terrain rises into foothills on either side, with sparse roads and dry slopes that contrast with the green valley floor.
A Sar-e Pul map poster shows a town whose form comes from water and terrain. The river gives it a clear line through the composition, the surrounding hills frame it, and the street pattern stays compact and practical, shaped by the valley.

Bridge-town name
The name refers to the head of a bridge. It reflects the river crossing that has long made this spot a natural meeting place.
Foothill edges
Dry slopes rise beyond the irrigated valley floor. They frame the town and leave calm, open space around the denser centre.
