Shawei Map Poster & Print
Shawei is one of the old urban villages within Shenzhen's Futian district, close to the border river that separates the city from Hong Kong and not far from the shoreline of Shenzhen Bay. From above, it shows a pattern found all over Shenzhen: a patch of extremely narrow lanes and tightly packed buildings surrounded by the broad, planned avenues of the modern city.
Villages like Shawei are older than Shenzhen's rise, which began after it became a special economic zone in 1980. As the city grew around them, their small plots were rebuilt as tall, closely packed apartment buildings, often called handshake buildings. Today they are among the densest residential areas in China.
A Shawei map poster makes that contrast its main subject: fine, almost textile-like lanes inside a frame of multi-lane roads, with the waterfront and the border river nearby. It is a striking portrait of how Shenzhen grew, block by block, around the places that were there first.

Planned boulevards
Wide avenues of modern Futian surround the village, drawing strong, even lines that frame the dense cluster on all sides.
Border waterfront
The Shenzhen River and the bay shoreline lie close by. They add open water and a clear edge to the southern part of the map.

အဓိပ္ပာယ်ရှိသော မြေပုံ
Many people's first home in Shenzhen was a flat in an urban village. A map of Shawei marks that chapter: the lanes, the noodle shops and the nearby border.
