Temple centre
The streets around the Marikamba temple form the densest part of town, the old core that anchors the market and the rest of the street pattern.

Sirsi Map Poster & Print
Sirsi sits on the plateau of the Western Ghats in Uttara Kannada, one of the most heavily forested districts of Karnataka. On the map the town is a compact cluster of streets surrounded by green: areca and spice plantations, patches of forest and small villages linked by narrow roads that wind through the hills.
The town has long been a trading centre for the crops of the surrounding hills, especially areca nut and spices. At its heart is the Marikamba temple, one of the best-known in the region, whose fair draws large crowds. Streets gather toward the old centre and then loosen as they climb away into the surrounding hills.
A Sirsi map poster suits anyone who knows the town as a gateway to the forests and waterfalls of the Ghats. Nearby, the Shalmala river runs past Sahasralinga, where many lingas are carved into the rocks of the riverbed, a favourite stop for visitors.

Winding hill roads
Roads leaving Sirsi curve through the Ghats, following ridges and valleys and giving the map soft, looping lines beyond the town edge.
Plantation mosaic
Areca gardens and forest surround the town, a landscape where buildings thin out quickly and small settlements scatter among the trees.

အဓိပ္ပာယ်ရှိသော မြေပုံ
Sirsi is a place people carry with them, from the monsoon, the temple fair and the plantation roads. A map on the wall is a calm way to keep the town present, far from the Ghats.
