Tadó Map Poster & Print
Tadó is a town in the department of Chocó, in western Colombia, on the upper San Juan river. The Chocó is one of the wettest regions in the world, and the landscape shows it: dense tropical forest, fast rivers and steep, green hills. On a map Tadó is a compact grouping of streets along the riverbank, with the water forming its clearest edge.
The town is mainly Afro-Colombian, with cultural traditions closely tied to the river and to mining along its banks. Streets run parallel to the San Juan and up the slopes behind it, and a bridge links the two banks. Beyond the last houses the forest takes over almost completely, with only a few roads and tracks crossing it.
A Tadó map poster shows how settlement in the Chocó depends on rivers. The curve of the San Juan, the tight town pattern and the large empty spaces of forest create a composition that is both simple and strong. It is a map for people from Tadó and the Chocó, and for anyone who has travelled this remote corner of the Pacific region.

Riverside streets
Streets run along the banks and climb the slopes behind them. They form a compact, irregular network shaped by water and terrain.
Forest surroundings
Dense rainforest surrounds the town on every side. On the poster it appears as wide, open space around the small built-up area.
