Tingo María Map Poster & Print
Tingo María lies in the Huánuco region of Peru, where the eastern slopes of the Andes meet the Amazon lowlands. The town sits beside the Huallaga river, and on a map its streets form a grid squeezed between the water and steep, forested hills that rise abruptly on either side.
The most famous feature of the landscape is the Bella Durmiente, or Sleeping Beauty, a mountain ridge whose profile resembles a reclining woman. Nearby Tingo María National Park protects forest, rivers and the Cueva de las Lechuzas, a cave known for its colonies of oilbirds.
A Tingo María map poster shows the river curving past the town, the regular blocks of the centre and roads winding out into the hills. The empty spaces of forest around the streets give the map a strong sense of setting, even in simple black lines.

Central street grid
The town centre follows a regular grid on the flat valley floor, sharply defined against the irregular terrain surrounding it.
Forested ridges
Steep hills around the town leave large open spaces on the map, broken only by roads that wind along valleys and river courses.
