Planned layout
Straight avenues and evenly spaced housing blocks give the town a geometric plan, clearly designed in one go rather than grown over centuries.

Tiszaújváros Map Poster & Print
Tiszaújváros is one of Hungary's socialist new towns, built from the 1950s alongside a major chemical plant near the Tisza River. It was known as Leninváros until 1991. From above, the planned character is obvious: wide, straight avenues, residential districts of apartment blocks set in green space, and a clear separation between the town and the industrial zone.
The Tisza, with its bends, backwaters and flood plain, runs along the eastern side, bringing soft curves to an otherwise geometric plan. Today the town is also known in the sporting world as a long-standing host of international triathlon competitions.
A Tiszaújváros map poster emphasises this contrast between the regular urban layout and the meandering river. It's a striking example of mid-century planning, and the map appeals both to residents and to anyone interested in the architecture of that era.

The Tisza
The river curves past the town with oxbows and flood-plain woodland, adding loose, organic shapes to the otherwise orderly map.
Industrial zone
The large chemical works that the town was built to serve occupy a separate area, its grid of plant roads and rail sidings clearly visible from above.
