Todaraisingh Map Poster & Print
Todaraisingh is a historic town in the Tonk district of Rajasthan, set in the semi-arid country south of Jaipur. On a map the old centre shows as a dense, irregular web of lanes, with a lake on its edge and newer roads extending outward across open farmland dotted with low rocky rises.
The town is known for its stepwells, or baoris, built centuries ago to store water in a dry climate. The most famous, Hadi Rani ki Baori, has deep stone steps descending to the water and has drawn attention from travellers and filmmakers. Old temples and gateways sit throughout the historic quarter.
A Todaraisingh map poster brings out the character of an old desert-edge town. Narrow streets pack tightly together, the lake forms a calm open shape, and the countryside beyond is sparse and open. In black and white, the contrast between the dense centre and the empty land gives the design depth.
