Urucará Map Poster & Print
Urucará is a municipality in the Brazilian state of Amazonas, located on the northern bank of the Amazon River between Manaus and Parintins. Like many towns in the region, it is reached mainly by boat, and the river is the main route in and out. On the map, the waterfront is the defining edge of the town.
The streets form a small grid along the bank, with the main roads running parallel to the water and side streets leading inland. Beyond the town, the land breaks into floodplain lakes, channels and forest, and the pattern of water shifts with the seasonal rise and fall of the Amazon.
An Urucará map poster shows a settlement that exists in close relation to the river. The small grid of streets appears alongside a very large body of water, and the shapes of lakes and channels around it change from season to season, giving the map a sense of scale that few places can match.

Riverside grid
A compact grid of streets runs parallel to the water, with the town's life oriented toward the river rather than toward any road.
