Vijayawada Map Poster & Print
Vijayawada sits on the north bank of the Krishna River in Andhra Pradesh, where the river widens before the Prakasam Barrage. From the barrage, irrigation canals branch out and cut through the city, dividing it into distinct neighbourhoods. On a map, these waterways create an unusual pattern of long, straight channels among dense streets.
Rocky hills rise within the city, most famously Indrakeeladri, home to the Kanaka Durga temple overlooking the river. The streets curve around these outcrops, and the combination of hills, river and canals gives a Vijayawada map poster a more varied texture than many plains cities.
The city is one of the busiest railway junctions in southern India, where lines from Chennai, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam converge. Just across the river lies Amaravati, the planned state capital, which gives the wider region new roads and new ambitions.
