Wangqing Map Poster & Print
Wangqing is a county town in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture of eastern Jilin. It lies in a river valley between forested mountains, and its map shows how the terrain dictates the layout. The town stretches along the valley floor in a long, narrow band, with the river running through it and roads following the same direction.
The surrounding country is among the most heavily wooded in northeast China. Forestry has long been a major industry here, and the mountains around Wangqing form part of the protected area established for the Siberian tiger and the Amur leopard. The population includes a large Korean community, and signs in the town are often bilingual.
A Wangqing map poster captures a town shaped by its valley. A fairly regular grid fills the flat ground, the river runs straight through it, and the streets stop abruptly where the slopes begin. Beyond, the roads leaving town follow side valleys into the hills.

River through town
A river crosses the town along the length of the valley, a strong central line with bridges connecting the neighbourhoods on each side.
Mountain edges
Streets end where the forested hills begin, giving the map sharp, irregular edges and a clear sense of the enclosing terrain.
