Hillside centre
The core around the main plaza sits on sloping ground. That makes the blocks irregular and the streets change direction often.

Xicotepec de Juárez Map Poster & Print
Xicotepec de Juárez lies in the Sierra Norte of Puebla, a range of steep, forested mountains that drop toward the Gulf lowlands. The town cannot spread out as it would on a plain. Streets bend along contour lines, climb in switchbacks and stop where ravines cut into the land.
The region is coffee country, and the humid mountain climate supports dense green vegetation right to the edge of town. Xicotepec has been named a Pueblo Mágico, the Mexican designation for towns with notable cultural and historic character. It is also known for its local traditions and its viewpoints over the surrounding sierra.
A Xicotepec de Juárez map poster shows a centre built around the main plaza and church, with steep irregular blocks around it. Further out, roads run along ridgelines and trace the valleys below. From above, the town looks less like a grid and more like a network following the land underneath it.

Ridge roads
Roads leaving town tend to follow the ridgelines. They form long winding lines that give the edge of the poster movement.
Ravine gaps
Steep ravines leave empty strips between neighbourhoods. In the design they appear as calm white channels between clusters of streets.
