Switchback roads
Roads climb the hills in tight loops and hairpins. They are the most striking lines on the poster and make the steep terrain visible.

Xintian Map Poster & Print
Xintian lies in the hill country of northeastern Chongqing, near Wanzhou and the Three Gorges stretch of the Yangtze. Flat ground is rare here. From above, roads follow ridgelines and valley floors, looping back on themselves to climb slopes, and the town fits into whatever level space the land allows.
The result is a plan made of curves rather than blocks. Main roads run in long switchbacks, and denser clusters of streets sit on shelves of gentler ground. Around them, smaller roads fan out to villages and terraced farmland on the surrounding hillsides. Almost every line on the map reflects the terrain.
A Xintian map poster turns that mountain geometry into something graphic. Without shading or colour, the switchbacks and ridge roads still show clearly how steep the land is. It is a portrait of a place shaped by slope, where every road is a negotiation with the hills.

Terrace-level streets
The built-up core sits on gentler shelves of land. Its short, dense streets contrast with the long curves around it.
Valley corridors
Streams and valley floors carry roads between the hills. They create natural channels that lead the eye across the frame.
