Mastic villages
Villages such as Pyrgi and Mesta were built as fortified settlements. The outer houses form a wall and the lanes turn tightly inward, so from above they read as dense, knotted blocks.

Chios Map Poster & Print
Chios lies in the eastern Aegean, separated from Turkey's Çeşme peninsula by a strait only a few kilometres wide at its narrowest point. From above it is an elongated island with a spine of mountains running north to south. The north is the highest and most rugged part, where roads switch back through steep, thinly settled ground toward small coastal villages.
Chios town, the capital, sits on the east coast facing Turkey. Its street plan is pressed between the harbour and the hills behind, and the outline of the old castle quarter can still be seen near the waterfront. South of the town the land opens into a gentler plain called Kambos, divided into walled estates and citrus gardens whose boundaries form a fine mesh on the map.
Further south are the mastic villages, where the mastic tree is grown for the resin the island is known for worldwide. They were built as fortified settlements with tight, defensive street patterns. Chios is also one of the places that claims to be the birthplace of Homer. A Chios map poster brings the mountainous north, the orchard plain and the compact medieval villages of the south together in one continuous shape.

Kambos plain
Just south of Chios town, the Kambos district is a patchwork of high-walled estates and orchards. Its narrow lanes run between stone walls in a fine, irregular grid.
The Chios Strait
The channel between Chios and the Turkish mainland frames the east coast. It gives the map a strong water edge and shows clearly how close the two shores are.

किन Chios
अर्थपूर्ण नक्सा
Chios suits people with family ties to the island, many of whom now live far away, and travellers who liked its slower, less crowded pace. The map keeps the villages, the capital and the long mountain spine together as one recognisable outline.
You can put a family village or a year in the title, adjust the subtitle and coordinates, and choose one of five styles, including Noir and Blueprint. Download the 900 px watermarked preview for free, or order a printed poster on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
